How to read it

The payment matters more than the rate

Owners negotiate rate and then get surprised by the payment. A shorter term at a lower rate can cost more per month than a longer term at a higher one, and it is the monthly number that either fits your account or does not.

A conservative test: the payment should still clear in your slowest month of the last twelve, not your average month. If it only works in a good month, the loan is too big or the term is too short.

Also look at total interest. A five-year term at a modest rate can quietly cost more in dollars than a two-year term at a higher one — the trade is monthly comfort against lifetime cost.

Tool questions

What people ask about this.

No — it is pure principal and interest. Add origination or packaging fees separately, since a 3% origination on a 12-month loan meaningfully changes real cost.
Conventional business term loans commonly land between 9% and 30% depending on credit and financials. SBA 7(a) tracks prime plus a spread. Use your actual offer for accuracy.
Usually, and true amortizing loans save you the remaining interest. Check for prepayment penalties, which are more common on longer terms.
